🚨 SAFETY ALERT – Petzl ASTRO & CANYON GUIDE Harnesses 🚨
Your safety is our highest priority.
Petzl has issued an updated safety alert regarding specific ASTRO and CANYON GUIDE harnesses due to a potential issue with the ventral D-ring attachment system and screws.
If you own one of these harnesses, please read carefully and follow the steps below.
🔍 What Is the Issue?
Petzl identified a potential defect affecting the ventral attachment point on certain harnesses.
This component is critical because it is typically used as the primary connection point in rope access, rescue and industrial applications. If the ventral attachment system does not perform as intended, it could create a serious safety risk.
No injuries have been reported. This alert has been issued as a precautionary measure.
📦 Affected Models
The alert applies to:
-
ASTRO BOD FAST
-
ASTRO BOD FAST
-
ASTRO SIT FAST
-

🗓 Serial Numbers Affected
2026 Updated Safety Alert
All ASTRO and CANYON GUIDE harnesses with serial numbers:
Below 23J 9999999 999
are included in this safety alert and require a ventral D-ring and screw replacement kit, even if previously inspected.
Harnesses manufactured after late 2023 and newer versions released from February 2025 onward are not affected.
If your harness serial number begins with 23J or earlier, it is very likely included.
🔍 Step 1: Check Your Serial Number
Where can I find the serial number?
The serial number is on the plastic label inside the waistbelt.

❓May I continue to temporarily use my harness before replacing the D and screws?
Case A: shackles are installed on your harness (possible only on ASTRO harnesses). You may continue to temporarily use your harness until the parts are replaced.

Case B: No shackles installed on your harness. Before any use of your harness, carry out the test requested in our previous call for inspection, specifically:
1 - Verify that the screws are correctly installed as recommended in the Instructions for Use for:

2- Remove any accessories installed in the shackle connection holes, if applicable.

3. Carry out the following test:
|

CANYON GUIDE |
|
|
|

A simple manual press is sufficient. |
